Obituary of Kelly Wilson

Funeral services for Kelly Lynn Wilson, age 38, of Wedowee will be held on Sunday, August 4, 2019, at 4:00 PM at Benefield Funeral Chapel with Rev. Josh Hickman officiating.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2:00-4:00 PM on Sunday before services begin.

Ms. Wilson passed away suddenly on Thursday, August 1, 2019, at her home in Wedowee.

Survivors include: three daughters, Danyelle Morris, Lily Wilson, and Isabella Wilson; two sons, Jeffrey Osborne and Kaelan Wilson; father and stepmother, Dan and Maggie Lort; paternal grandmother, Margaret Lort; one sister, Shannon Swiatek (James); and one stepbrother, Ben Buzard.

A Belle Glade, Florida native, Ms. Wilson was born on April 23, 1981, the daughter of Daniel and Maxine Overton Lort.  She graduated from Southern Union State Community College and worked as a registered nurse at Northeast Alabama Regional Medical Center.  Kelly’s passion was her children and her critters.  She was preceded in death by her mother and her soulmate, John W. Melton, Jr.
