Obituary of Curtis Lewis Watts

Funeral services for Curtis Lewis Watts, age 83, will be held on Friday, September 6, 2019, at 12:00 noon at Benefield Funeral Chapel with Rev. William Crawford officiating.  Burial will follow at Wedowee City Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-8:00 PM on Thursday, September 5, 2019.

Mr. Watts passed away Monday, September 2, 2019, at his residence.

Survivors include his wife, Jeanette Houston Watts of Wedowee; five children, Chauncey Watts (Tonia), Curtis Dylan Watts (Tameka), Nikkie Houston (Paul), Sabrina Sims (Lamar), and Maurice Houston (Nina); 18 grandchildren, Quavaughn Watts, Chauncey Watts, II, Aneka Watts, Kaseem Watts, Dontae Watts, Damarius Nolen-Watts, DaQuain Watts, Alyssa Watts, Angel Wilkes, Jaliya Wilkes, Jaquez Wilkes, ZaTahia Keith, Tameia Houston, Kamryn Houston, Calen Houston, Jada Houston, Davion Houston, , and Chance Upshaw; one great-grandchild, Skyler Watts; one sister, Hazel Scott; one brother, Rev. Larence Watts; several nieces and nephews; and other family and friends.

Pallbearers will be Keith Wright, Maurice Houston, and Paul Wilkes.

A long-time Wedowee resident, Mr. Watts was born on December 21, 1935, the son of Frank and Gaudie Dorsey Watts.  He was a member of Rocky Mount Methodist Church, a United States Army veteran of the Vietnam conflict. After retiring from the military, Mr. Watts worked at Terry Manufacturing and was an entrepreneur. He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Willie Frank, Jesse Rufus, James Grady, Melvin Eugene, and John Ester; and one sister, Catherine Morris.
