Obituary of Mark Murphy

Funeral services for Mark Murphy, age 62, of Woodland will be held on Monday, October 28, 2019, at 2:00 PM at Jordan Chapel Southern Congregational Methodist Church with Bro. Chris Mitchell, Bro. Jonathan Hannah, and Bro. Randall Skinner officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery with Benefield Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4:30-8:00 PM on Sunday, October 27, 2019.  Mr. Murphy will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to services beginning on Monday.

Mr. Murphy passed away Saturday, October 26, 2019, at Tanner-East Alabama Medical Center in Wedowee.

Survivors include his wife, Margie Murphy of Woodland; two sons, Matthew Murphy (wife, Wendy) of Woodland and Mitch Murphy (wife, Morgan) of Okeechobee, FL; four grandchildren, Ashleigh Murphy, Amber Murphy, Parker Murphy, and Avery Murphy; one sister, Carol Floyd (husband, James) of Woodland; and two brothers, Steve A. Murphy (wife, Patti) of Tyus, GA, and Jerry Murphy of Woodland.

Pallbearers will be Benny Floyd, James Sears, Brandon Sheats, Phil Murphy, Phil Chasse’, and Keith Norred.  Honorary pallbearers will be Grady Daniel, William Davenport, Stacy Smith, Larry Roberts, and Jacky Chambers.

A Woodland native, Mr. Murphy was born on March 26, 1957, the son of Leron and Nadine Allen Murphy.  He was a member of Jordan Chapel Southern Congregational Methodist Church where he served as a Deacon and song leader and was a supervisor at Yamaha.  Mr. Murphy was preceded in death by his parents.
