Graveside services for Charlie Will Parker, Sr., age 86, of Wedowee will be held on Friday, April 10, 2020, at 2:00 PM at Union Chapel United Methodist Cemetery with Pastor B. J. Jackson officiating and Benefield Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-8:00 PM on Thursday, April 9, 2020.
Mr. Parker passed away Tuesday, April 7, 2020, at Tanner-East Alabama Medical Center in Wedowee.
Survivors include: four sons, Lonzie Wayne Parker (Marilyn), Jessie Parker (Cynthia), and Rev. Sylvester L. Parker (Ethel), all of Wedowee, and Billy Ray Parker (Katessa) of Coldwater, AL; 21 grandchildren; and 40 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Rico Sims, Demarcus Davis, Donta Jordan, Tommy Drummond, Johnny Tatum, Anthony Wright, and other relatives.
A Roanoke native, Mr. Parker was born on October 12, 1933, the son of Charlie Will and Bessie Trammell Parker. He was a member of Zions Rest Baptist Church and worked in construction for a pyramid mason and was a member of the labor union.Mr. Parker was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lurline Sue Parker; sons, Charlie Terrell Parker, Jr.; stepson, Jimmy Knight; five brothers, Oscar, John T., Earnest, James, and Willie Frank; four sisters, Mary Harmon, Rosa Lee Freeman, Ruby Lee Parker Andrews, and Louise Parker Goodwin; special nieces and nephews, King Edward Knight, James Larry Knight, Jessie Mae Knight, Johnny Gray Knight, and Mary L. Jordan; granddaughter, Tiffany Nicole Parker; and grandson, Chad Venard Parker.
Memorials may be floral or donations may be made to Benefield Funeral Home to go towards final expenses.
