Graveside services for Eunice Faye Simpson, age 93, of Newell, will be held on Tuesday, May 19, 2020, at 1:00 PM CST at Pine Hill Christian Cemetery with Bro. Scott Blake officiating and Benefield Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Simpson passed away Saturday, May 16, 2020, at Traylor’s Nursing Home in Roanoke. Survivors include her son, Larry Simpson (Geraldine) of Newell; grandson, Jamie Simpson (Alissa) of Helena, AL; great-grandson, James Simpson; and several nieces and nephews. A Burnsville, AL native, Mrs. Simpson was born on January 21, 1927, the daughter of Union and Susie Belle Ivy Lawrence. She was Christian by faith and was a member of Pine Hill Christian Church since 1947. for many years. She had been employed by Bremen Bowdon Investments and retired from Sewells as an inspector. Mrs. Simpson was an avid gardener and she enjoyed canning the vegetables she grew, especially her green beans. She was an excellent cook and was known for cooking fried pies. Mrs. Simpson was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, W.H. Simpson, her daughter, Ercie Carolyn Simpson, three brothers, and two sisters. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Pine Hill Christian Church Cemetery Fund c/o Jason Simpson 6751 Co. Rd. 51, Newell, AL, 36280.
