Obituary of James Thomas Stewart

Funeral services for James Thomas Stewart, age 62, of Woodland will be held on Saturday, June 6, 2020, at 2:00 PM at Benefield Funeral Chapel with Bro. Ricky Murphy and Bro. Allan Daniel officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Church of Christ Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-8:00 PM on Friday, June 5. Mr. Stewart passed away Wednesday, June 3, 2020, at his residence. Survivors include his wife, Wendy Shaw Stewart of Woodland; two sons, Jeremy Stewart and Jacob Stewart (Misty Puckett), both of Woodland; three sisters, Lynda Stewart, Marilyn Messer (Wayne), and Elaine Parmer (Mark), all of Woodland; one brother, Marlon Stewart (Trish) of Woodland; an aunt, Fay Bennett of Wadley; an uncle, Cecil Brown of Woodland; and a host of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Brandon Stewart, Dustin Messer, Jared Parmer, Butch Davis, Bailey Davis, Hank Meadows, Jason Murphy, and David Sears. A Roanoke native, Mr. Stewart was born on September 23, 1957, the son of Loyd Thomas and Eunice Hester Stewart. He was a member of Oak Grove Church of Christ and worked as a millwright at Southwire. Mr. Stewart was preceded in death by his parents.
