Obituary of Jerry Leroy Cooper

Funeral services for Jerry Leroy Cooper, age 46, of Wedowee will be held on Friday, June 12, 2020, at 2:00 PM at Benefield Funeral Chapel with Rev. Jonathan Hannah officiating. Burial will follow at Ashland City Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4:30-8:00 PM on Thursday, June 11, 2020. Mr. Cooper passed away Tuesday, June 9, 2020, at his residence. Survivors include his wife, Kristy Holloway Cooper of Wedowee; one daughter, Courtney Alyce Culbertson (Josh) of Wedowee; one son, Colton Bryce Cooper (Elizabeth) of Wedowee; five grandchildren; his mother, Janie Cooper; two sisters, Stacey Brown (Jody) and Cindy Lambert (Michael), both of Ashland; two brothers, Gary Cooper, Jr., of Lincoln and Billy Jack Cooper of Talladega; several nieces and nephews; and five great-nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Eric Henderson, Lane Henderson, Brody Wortham, Levi Phillips, J. R. Roundtree, Tanner Hurst, and Brady Phillips. A longtime Wedowee resident, Mr. Cooper was born in Riverside, California, on February 3, 1974, the son of Gary Cooper, Sr., and Janie McFann Cooper. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Wedowee and worked for Honda as a robot operator. Mr. Cooper was preceded in death by his father.
