Obituary of Billie Ruth Sandley Burnside
Graveside services for Billie Ruth Sandley Burnside, age 84, of Wedowee will be held on Wednesday, July 22, 2020, at 10:00 AM at Wedowee City Cemetery with Rev. Tramaine Solomon and Rev. Josh Hickman officiating.
Mrs. Burnside passed away Monday, July 20, 2020, at her residence.
Survivors include: one daughter, Tammie Gourdouze (Randall) of Auburn; one son, Jack Burnside (Vanessa) of Wedowee; and one grandchild, Millie Burnside.
Honorary pallbearers will be Mrs. Burnside’s TOOLS Group from church.
A Montgomery native, Mrs. Burnside was born on September 18, 1935, the daughter of Horace Edward Sandley and Grace Evelyn Moseley Evans. She worked for Randolph County DHR for 32 years and was a member of Wedowee First United Methodist Church where she was a very active member. Mrs. Burnside served in the TOOLS Group and the UMW Night Circle. She also was a former church secretary and choir member. A member of the Wedowee Study Club, she loved classic movies, cooking and finding new recipes, working with stained glass, and quilting and sewing. She enjoyed shopping and traveling with Millie, who was the light of her life, and loved being her Mudder B. Mrs. Burnside was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 49 years, Thomas Floyd Burnside, Jr.
Memorials may be floral or donations may be made to the Capital Fund at the Wedowee First United Methodist Church.
