Obituary of Gary Cosper

Funeral services for Gary Gene Cosper, age 64, of Newell will be held on Tuesday, August 18, 2020, at 2:00 PM at Benefield Funeral Chapel with Madeline Champion, Bro. Terry Eason, Bro. Ed Halsey, and Bro. Jason Reaves officiating.  Burial will follow at Antioch Baptist Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-8:00 PM on Monday, August 17, 2020.

Mr. Cosper passed away Saturday, August 15, 2020, at Tanner Medical Center in Carrollton, Georgia.

Survivors include his wife, Donna Cosper of Newell; two daughters, Misty Champion (Martin) of Huntsville, and Kimberly Reaves (Jason) of Newell; five grandchildren, Madeline Champion, Molly Champion, Braden Reaves, Brianna Reaves, and Lauren Reaves; and one sister, Judy Sears (Eddie) of Woodland.

Pallbearers will be David Sears, Martin Champion, Franky Waters, Edward Meadows, Gary Roberts, Christian Meadows, Teddy Waters, and Derrick Benefield.  Honorary pallbearers will be Braden Reaves and Michael Sears.

A Randolph County native, Mr. Cosper was born on June 4, 1956, the son of Elmer and Alice Eason Cosper.  He was a member of Union Baptist Church and was a manager at Bremen-Bowdon Investment before retiring. Mr. Cosper was, above all, a family man and a wonderful Pop.  He was loving and caring and always putting others above himself.  He enjoyed fishing and hunting and was an avid outdoorsman.  Mr. Cosper was preceded in death by his parents.
