Obituary of Carolyn Cantrell Fields

Funeral services for Carolyn Cantrell Fields, age 73, of Roanoke will be held on Friday, September 4, 2020, at 2:00 PM at Highway Congregational Methodist Church with Rev. Jason Owens and Rev. Thomas Cochran officiating.  Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery with Benefield Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-8:00 PM on Thursday, September 3, 2020.  Mrs. Fields will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to services beginning on Friday.

Mrs. Fields passed away Tuesday, September 1, 2020, at her residence.

Survivors include her husband, Ray Benford Fields of Roanoke; one son, Kenny Fields (wife, Sandra) of Roanoke; one grandchild, Jarred Dakota Fields; three sisters, Annette Sinns of Hogansville, GA, and Louree Richardson and Annie Ruth Dye, both of Woodland; and two brothers, Earl Cantrell of Sandy Springs, GA, and Viron Cantrell of Woodland.

Pallbearers will be Koty Fields, Tony Richardson, Mark Richardson, Mike Hester, Jeff Cantrell, and Joey Fields.

A Randolph County native, Mrs. Fields was born on April 5, 1947, the daughter of Herman Viron and Katie Belle Scott Cantrell.  She was a member of Highway Congregational Methodist Church and worked as a supervisor for Bremen-Bowdon Investments.  Mrs. Fields was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Emory, Rance, and Ussery.

The family would prefer attendees to wear a mask and please practice social distancing.  Anyone that is showing any symptoms of COVID-19, please remain at home and express condolences online.
