Obituary of Jack Lovvorn Toney

Graveside services for Jack Lovvorn “Blackjack” Toney, age 77, of Woodland will be held on Sunday, October 4, 2020, at 2:00 PM at Antioch Baptist Cemetery with Bro. John Davis officiating and Benefield Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Toney passed away Thursday, October 1, 2020, at Lineville Nursing Home in Lineville, Alabama.

Survivors include: one daughter, Melissa Toney Wheatley (Don) of Lawrenceville, GA; two grandchildren, Taylor Nicole Wheatley and Dylan Lee Wheatley; and two sisters, Christine Daniel and Charlotte Toney, both of Bowdon, GA.

Pallbearers will be Paul Kirby, Randy Cofield, Ryan Calhoun, Don Wheatley, Dylan Lee Wheatley, and Veston Hale.

A Newell native, Mr. Toney was born on October 18, 1942, the son of Denzel Galoway and Florence Evelyn Lovvorn Toney.  He was a member of Antioch Baptist Church and worked in maintenance for Maple Hurst Bakery.  Mr. Toney was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Billy Toney and Bobby Toney.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Parkinson’s Association in honor of Jack Toney, at 135 Parkinson Avenue, Staten Island, NY 10305.
