Obituary of Rene Henderson Yates

Funeral services for Rene Henderson Yates, age 83, of Woodland will be held on Monday, October 26, 2020, at 2:00 PM at Providence Baptist Church with Bro. Terry Eason and Bro. David Daniel officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery with Benefield Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-8:00 PM on Sunday, October 25, 2020.

Mrs. Yates passed away Friday, October 23, 2020, at Traylor’s Nursing Center in Roanoke.

Survivors include: daughter, Debra Y. Bailey (Michael) of Woodland; grandson, Kevin Gosdin (Amanda) of Woodland; and three great-grandchildren, Tyler Gosdin, Alyssa Gosdin, and Kaden Gosdin.

Pallbearers will be Tyler Gosdin, Kaden Gosdin, Michael Watts, Brayden Watts, Riley Barngrover, and Eric Dye.  Honorary pallbearers will be Davy Spratlin, Jeremey Yates, and Michael Crenshaw.

A Randolph County native, Mrs. Yates was born on July 27, 1937, the daughter of Frank Henderson, Sr., and Claudia Parmer Henderson.  She was a faithful member of Providence Baptist Church where she played the organ for many years and worked as a seamstress for Bremen-Bowdon, Inv.  Mrs. Yates was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James Ray Yates; and one brother, Junior Henderson.

The service will be broadcast on the loud speaker outside of the church for anyone who would like to come but not go inside.
