Obituary of Raymond Chelcie Dunlap
Graveside services for Raymond Chelcie Dunlap, age 81, of Oxford, formerly of Newell, will be held on Friday, November 6, 2020, at 2:00 PM at Antioch Baptist Cemetery with Rev. Larry Cosper officiating.
With his family by his side, Mr. Dunlap passed away Wednesday, November 4, 2020, at Stringfellow Memorial Hospital in Anniston after a long battle with cancer.
Survivors include: his twins, daughter, Robin Ann Proietty (Bernard) of Oxford; son, Mickey Todd Dunlap (Timm Leyden) of Oxford; two grandchildren, Jason McCormick (Amanda) of Windsor, CO and Jordan McCormick (Cierra) of Wedowee; eleven great-grandchildren, Alexa, Kennedy, McKenzie, Emma Rae, Maggie Mae, Blakely, Brianna, Caleb, Olivia, Kinley, and Kaiden; and two brothers, Denson Dunlap of Roanoke and Ricky Dunlap of Opelika
Pallbearers will be Jason McCormick, Jordan McCormick, Timm Leyden, Shawn McWhorter and Bernie Proietty.
A Woodland native, Mr. Dunlap was born on March 5, 1939, the son of Homer Lee and Sceleste Overton Dunlap. On June 27, 1959, he married his wife, Myrtis Eason Dunlap and was married for 55 years until her death on February 8, 2015. Mr. Dunlap worked at Calloway Mills from the late 1950s until 1968. In May of 1968, he worked at Bremen-Bowdon Investment Company in Bowdon, Georgia, until his retirement. After retirement, he and his wife were foster parents for many years. Mr. Dunlap was a member of Crossroads Community Church. He loved to hunt, fish, and garden, Alabama Football, and watching his grandkids and great-grandkids participate in sports. Mr. Dunlap was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; father and mother-in-law, M. W. and Cassie Traylor Eason; brother, J. B. and Willie Dunlap; sisters, Ida Lawson, Lillian Sheppard, Ezzie Tuton, Annie Pearl Rice, Lexa Pike, Lenner Crenshaw, and Shirley Rollins; and special nephew, Gary Gene Cosper.
