Obituary of Gloria Rosetta Scales

Gloria Rosetta Scales was born to Lesley and Mary Scales April 14 1949. She was a precocious and solitary child but she loved to play. Her education started at Steven Mission School in 1955, in 1957 she went on to Wedowee Middle School and graduated. She attended Talladega College and received a degree in Sociology and minor in Criminology. Over the next eight years she married, joined The Mount Zion Seventh Day Adventist Church in Talladega Alabama and gave birth to her four children: Terrance Scales(Lisa), Deborah Hamilton(Clifford), Bertha Moore and Mary Heard, who gave her more than 20 grandkids. She Loved her family and gardening.  In fact, she was interviewed by the Daily Home in Talladega for how beautiful her garden was in the Westgate Projects. She Loved the Lord in her heart and was active in church and filled many positions such as Teacher, Treasurer, Deaconess and Superintendent, but her favorite was leading Bible Studies. She was responsible for leading at least five to the Lord. 

Gloria was preceded in death by her parents, Mary and Lesley Scales; siblings, Vernon Scales, Alice Scales, Loventrice Khanar, Raymond Scales; Grandson, Jaquail Heard; siblings, Nora Levaelle and Cheryl Green; and Nephew, Jerome Scales.

Gloria is survived by her Siblings Adella Hayden, Ethel(John)Houston, John(Julie)Scales, Ella Robinson, Joseph(Cordell)Scales, her children, a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins; and a devoted friend, Joyce Hicks

A memorial service will be held at Benefield Funeral Chapel on Sunday, November 8, 2020, at 12 noon with Pastor Kulakav officiating.
