Ruth Holmes Kirby, 94, of Wedowee, passed away Thursday, November 12, 2020, at her home. There will be a private memorial service at a later date.
Survivors include: two daughters, Dena Wise (Kenneth) of Knoxville, TN and Margie Hudson of Lawrenceburg, TN; one son, Joseph Shellie Kirby (Heather) of Palatka, FL; 7 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; one sister, Wilda Harris of Grady, AL.
A Wedowee native, Mrs. Kirby was born on May 21, 1926, the daughter of Joseph Onward and Irma Estelle Bailey Holmes. She and her husband co-owned and operated Kirby Service Station. Mrs. Kirby was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John Frank Kirby; daughter, Jenell Kirby; sisters, Luree Benefield and Sarah Holmes and brother, Harold Holmes.
