Obituary of Jack Herren, Sr.

Funeral services for Jack W. Herren, Sr., age 81, of Wedowee will be held on Saturday, November 21, 2020, at 11:00 AM at Benefield Funeral Chapel with Bro. Phillip Pannell and Bro. Glen Howell officiating.  Burial will follow at Herren’s Grove Baptist Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 9:30-11:00 AM on Saturday before services begin.

Mr. Herren passed away Monday, November 16, 2020, at Regional Medical Center in Anniston, AL.

Survivors include: one son, Jack Herren, Jr. (Ginger) of Oxford; two grandchildren, Carley Frensley (Robert) and Cole Herren (Jodi); two great-grandchildren, Harper and Charlie; and four sisters, Mary Parker of Wedowee, Nell Howell (Glen) of Mississippi, Betty Jo Van Dam (Earl) of Mississippi, and Carol Ann Traylor (Jerry) of Newell.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.

A Woodland native, Mr. Herren was born on December 4, 1938, the son of S. T. “Bud” and Viola Landers Herren.  He was a member of Herren’s Grove Baptist Church and was an inspector for the USDA Soil Conservation for over 40 years.  Mr. Herren was preceded in death by his parents.
