Obituary of Franklin Brett Benefield

Graveside services for Franklin Brett Benefield, age 48, of Oxford, will be held on Thursday, March 18, 2021, at 1:00 PM at Green’s Chapel UMC Cemetery in Wedowee, AL, with Dr. Barry Cosper officiating and Benefield Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. 

Mr. Benefield passed away Friday, March 12, 2021, in Cullman, Alabama.

Survivors include: two daughters, Lyndsey Benefield and Anna Kate Benefield; mother, Janice Lybrand of Oxford, AL; maternal grandmother, Marvelene Burch (C. W. Flynt) of Anniston, AL; and brother, Dustin Pruitt of Anniston, AL.

Pallbearers will be Derold Thackston, Jake Thackston, Wayne Browning, Jerry Browning, Dustin Pruitt, and Gabriel Pruitt.

A Calhoun County native, Mr. Benefield was born on September 4, 1972, the son of Franklin Benefield and Janice Johnson Lybrand.  He was a member of Cornerstone Church and worked as a truck driver.  Mr. Benefield was preceded in death by his father, Franklin Benefield and grandparents, Morgan Benefield, Lurlene Johnson, and Fred Johnson.

Memorials may be floral, family requests potted houseplants, or donations may be made to any suicide prevention awareness organization.
