Obituary of Robert Higgins

Funeral services for Robert Higgins, age 63, of Wedowee will be held on Saturday, March 20, 2021, at 2:00 PM at Benefield Funeral Chapel with Rev. Larry Conger and Rev. Jerry Smith officiating.  Burial will follow at Cavers Grove Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-8:00 PM on Friday, March 19, 2021.

Mr. Higgins passed away Wednesday, March 17, 2021, at East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika.

Survivors include: one daughter, Tasha Higgins of Wedowee; one son, Josh Higgins (Rachael) of Wedowee; three grandchildren, Kenzi Terrell, Kesli Higgins, and Isaac Higgins; four sisters, Karon Higgins of Woodland, Janet Hughes of Wedowee, Debra Gilmore of Wedowee, Loretta Trotter of Guntersville, AL; four brothers, Herbert Higgins of Roanoke, Truman Higgins of Woodland, Eddie Todd Whaley of Wedowee, and Tim Whaley of Sylacauga, AL; and special friend, Ruth Brooks Wakefield of Wedowee.

Pallbearers will be Mr. Higgins’ family.

A lifelong Randolph County resident, Mr. Higgins was born in Monahans, Texas, on August 14, 1957, the son of Buford Higgins and Dollie Bailey Whaley.  Mr. Higgins was a member of New Life Center Church of God and worked in maintenance at Southern Union.  He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Gary Higgins.
