Obituary of JoAnn Key

Funeral services for JoAnn Key, age 75, of Wedowee will be held on Sunday, June 27, 2021, at 4:00 PM at Benefield Funeral Chapel with Jason Key officiating.  Burial will follow at Wesley’s Chapel Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 3:00-4:00 PM on Sunday before services begin.

Mrs. Key passed away Friday, June 25, 2021, at Lineville Health & Rehabilitation.

Survivors include her husband, Eldridge Key of Wedowee; three sons, Eldridge “Doc” Key, Jr. (Rebecca), Jason Key (Julie), and Mason Key (Patricia, all of Wedowee; nine grandchildren, Jacob, Jeremiah, Jonie, Ryan, Stephen, Tracy, Stephanie, Susian, and Patrick; seven great-grandchildren; and a half-brother, Jerry Ford.

Pallbearers will be Patrick Mize, Stephen Haynes, Jamieson Walker, Michael Holloway, Hunter Holloway, and Tommy Holloway.

A longtime Randolph County resident, Mrs. Key was born in Calhoun County on March 14, 1946, the daughter of Joe Mason Carney and Myrtis Joe McLeroy Ford.  She was a member of Union Baptist Church and was a homemaker.  Mrs. Key was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Myrtis Ann Key; and a grandson, Brandon Key.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Benefield Funeral Home to go toward funeral expenses.
