Obituary of Clifford Clayton Brown

Funeral Services for Clifford Clayton Brown, age 96, of Roanoke will be held on Thursday, July 1, 2021, at 2:00 PM at Benefield Funeral Chapel with Bro. Donald Spradlin and Bro. Josh Kennedy officiating.  Burial will follow at Macedonia Baptist Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-8:00 PM on Wednesday, June 30, 2021.

Mr. Brown passed away Monday, June 28, 2021, at Tanner-East Alabama Medical Center in Wedowee.

Survivors include his wife, Sue Tennant Brown of Wedowee; daughter-in-law, Rebecca Brown of Wedowee; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Lavay Wright (Buddy) of Chatsworth, GA.

Pallbearers will be Donald Wayne Johnson, Joe Davis, Daryl Brown, Randall Johnson, and Beth Davis.

A Randolph County native, Mr. Brown was born on May 30, 1925, the son of Larkin and Verdie Young Brown.  He was a member of Mt. Grove Baptist Church and held many different jobs including in the textile industry, farming, and managing a pulpwood yard.  Mr. Brown enjoyed hunting, fishing, and tending to his cows.  He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary Lashley Brown; and four children, Yvetta Hilliard, Patricia Caldwell, Dwight Brown, and Sherry Davis.
