Obituary of Ruby Warren Yates

Funeral services for Ruby Warren Yates, age 98, of Lineville will be held on Friday, September 3, 2021, at 2:00 PM at  Benefield Funeral Chapel with Rev. Alan Hurst, Bro. Ray Warren, Bro. Roger Hammett, Bro. Ricky Daniel, and Bro. Brandon Owen officiating.  Burial will follow at Mt. Prospect Baptist Church Cemetery in Lineville.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:00-2:00 PM on Friday, September 3 before services begin.

Mrs. Yates passed away Wednesday, September 1, 2021, at her residence.

Survivors include: three daughters, Rudean Lett, JoAnna McDonald (Winford), and Rozell East (Dennis), all of Lineville; one son, Carey Yates of Lineville; 15 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; 40 great-great-grandchildren; one great-great-great-grandchildren; and one brother, Dr. Dolphus Ray Warren of Hixson, TN.

Pallbearers will be Mrs. Yates’ grandson, Bobby McDonald, Richard Forte, Robert Forte, Steven Yates, Micah Yates, and Larry Lett.

A Wedowee native, Mrs. Yates was born on December 1, 1922, the daughter of Monroe Dolphus and Florence Hendon Warren.  She was a member of Mt. Prospect Baptist Church and worked and retired as a nurse at Wedowee Hospital.  Mrs. Yates was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Burell Yates; grandson Trey Young; son-in-law, Donnie Lett; daughter-in-law, Valera Tidwell; sister, Alpha Heard; and brothers, Hendon Warren and Johnny Warren.

The family will accept flowers but prefers donations and any donations may be made to the Mt. Prospect Baptist Church Building Fund at 358 Co Rd 38, Lineville AL 36266.
