Obituary of Russell Marion Huddleston

Funeral services for Russell Marion Huddleston, age 90, of Roanoke will be held on Friday, September 17, 2021, at 2:00 PM at Rocky Branch Baptist Church with Bro. Matt Browning and Bro. Clayton Scott officiating and Benefield Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

The family will receive friends at the church from 12:00-2:00 PM on Friday before services begin.

Mr. Huddleston passed away peacefully Wednesday, September 15, 2021, at his home.

Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Frances Rollins Huddleston of Roanoke and a brother, Wylie M. Huddleston of Saraland, AL.

Pallbearers will be Wayne Rollins, Eli Rollins, Tracy Belyeu, Toby Clark, Bob McCoy, and Rick Martin.

A Woodland native, Mr. Huddleston was born on July 6, 1931, the son of Wylie M. and Mammie Henry Huddleston.  He was a member of Rocky Branch Baptist Church where he was an R.A. leader for many years and loved the youth of the church. Mr. Huddleston also laid the rocks for the Rocky Branch church sign by hand.  He was a United States Army veteran of the Korean conflict and the Vietnam where he served two tours and retired from 22 years of military service.  Mr. Huddleston was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Russell M. Huddleston, Jr.; two brothers; and two sisters.
