Obituary of Doris Marvileen McManus

Funeral services for Doris Marvileen McManus, age 81, of Woodland, will be held on Wednesday, December 1, 2021, at 2:00 PM at Mt. Carmel Church of Christ with Bro. Allan Daniel and Bro. Ricky Murphy officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery with Benefield Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

The family will receive friends at the church from 1:00-2:00 PM before services begin on Wednesday.

Mrs. McManus passed away on Sunday, November 28, 2021, at her home.

Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Freddie Gerald McManus of Woodland; a daughter, Renae Carpenter (husband, Mark) of Woodland; a son, Randy McManus of Woodland; a brother, Archie O’Neal Brown of Sour Lake, TX; four grandchildren, Leslie Carpenter Gibbs of Roanoke, Scott Carpenter of Huntsville, AL, Grace McManus and Guy McManus, both of Woodland; and one great-grandchild, Ethan Gibbs of Roanoke.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.

A lifelong Randolph County resident, Mrs. McManus was born on September, 19, 1940 in Roanoke, the daughter of Guy and Estelle Crenshaw Brown. She was a member of Mt. Carmel Church of Christ and was a homemaker.  Mrs. McManus was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Tim Brown and Duane “Doodle” Brown; and an infant brother, Tillry Brown.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Mt. Carmel Church of Christ Cemetery Fund.
