Obituary

 

Funeral services for John A. Wright, 82, of Wedowee, AL, will be held Wednesday, March 2, 2022 at 11:00 AM from Benefield Funeral Chapel with Dr. Joseph Brown officiating. Burial will follow at Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery with Benefield Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-7:00 PM on Tuesday, March 1, 2022.

Mr. Wright passed away February 27, 2022, at his daughter’s residence.

He is survived by his daughter, Sharon Sullinger of Wedowee; three sons, Tim Wright (Lisa) of Franklin, GA, Keith Wright of Wedowee, and Kevin Wright (Loretta) of Wedowee; 17 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.

A lifelong resident of Randolph Co., Mr. Wright was born on April 27, 1939, the son of Robert and Ida Kimble Wright.  He had been self-employed as a brick mason and worked for other companies, as well. He was Christian by faith and was a member of Rhema Christian Center. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Bernice Harris Wright; one son, John Wright Jr.; eight siblings, Otis Wright, Sylvester Wright, Fannie Mae Knight, Beatrice Harris, Eva Glenn, Robert B. Wright, Cassie Hicks, and Jessie Alls; and one son-in-law, Alton Sullinger.

Memorials may be floral.
