Obituary of Dorothy McCain Simpson

Funeral services for Dorothy McCain Simpson, age 84, of Wedowee will be held on Sunday, May 22, 2022, at 2:00 PM at Ava United Methodist Church with Bro. Blue Vardaman officiating.  Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery with Benefield Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

The family will receive friends at the church from 1:00-2:00 before services begin on Sunday.

Mrs. Simpson passed away on Friday, May 20, 2022, with her loving husband of 65 years and family by her side.

Survivors include: husband, Hubert Simpson of Wedowee; two sons, Nick Simpson (Dawn) and Mark Simpson (Tammy), both of Wedowee; five grandchildren, Bobby Simpson (Candace), Amanda Jackson (Daniel), Becky Arrington (Brent), Brandy Simpson, and Danny Simpson (Marianne); four great-grandchildren, Charlotte Simpson, Hudson Jackson, Abby Jackson, and Carter Arrington; three brothers, Howard McCain, Jr., Nelson McCain, and Don McCain, all of Wedowee; and two sisters, Arbie Wilder of Oxford and Gearlene Southerland of Wedowee.

Pallbearers will be Nick Simpson, Mark Simpson, Bobby Simpson, Danny Simpson, Brent Arrington, and Daniel Jackson.

A Randolph County native, Mrs. Simpson was born on February 4, 1938, the daughter of Howard and Bertha Lee Nelson McCain.  She was a member of Ava United Methodist Church and was a poultry farmer and a homemaker.  Mrs. Simpson tended for all five of her grandchildren through school-age and loved caring for her family.  She was preceded in death by her parents.
