Obituary of Hubert Emeris Simpson

Funeral services for Hubert Emeris Simpson, age 88, of Wedowee will be held on Tuesday, August 2, 2022, at 11:00 AM at Ava United Methodist Church with Bro. Blue Vardaman officiating.  Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery with Benefield Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

The family will receive friends at the church from 10:00-11:00 AM before services begin on Tuesday.

Mr. Simpson passed away on Sunday, July 31, 2022, at Lineville Health & Rehabilitation with his loving family by his side.

Survivors include: two sons, Nick Simpson (Dawn) and Mark Simpson (Tammy), both of Wedowee; five grandchildren, Bobby Simpson (Candace), Amanda Jackson (Daniel), Becky Arrington (Brent), Brandy Simpson, and Danny Simpson (Marianne); four great-grandchildren, Charlotte Simpson, Hudson Jackson, Abby Jackson, and Carter Arrington; two sisters, Jessie Bee Brown of Arab and Joyce Patterson of Talladega; and one brother, Lonnie Simpson of Mobile.

Pallbearers will be Nick Simpson, Mark Simpson, Bobby Simpson, Danny Simpson, Brent Arrington, and Daniel Jackson.

A Calhoun County native, Mr. Simpson was born on December 21, 1933, the son of Robert Deward and Mamer Williams Simpson.  He was a member of Ava United Methodist Church and was a logger and cattle and poultry farmer.  Mr. Simpson was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Dorothy McCain Simpson; two sisters, Nina McCain of Wedowee and Alice Watkins of Woodland; and one brother, Gerald Simpson of Ranburne.
