Obituary of Donnie Lipscomb, Sr.

Funeral services for Donnie Lipscomb, Sr., age 83, of Decatur, Alabama, formerly of Wedowee, will be held on Thursday, August 11, 2022, at 1:00 PM at Benefield Funeral Chapel with Rev. David Lipscomb officiating.  Burial will follow at Pine Grove Baptist Cemetery in Heflin Alabama.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:00 –1:00 PM on Thursday before services begin.

Mr. Lipscomb passed away Sunday, August 7, 2022, at his home.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Dessie Lipscomb of Decatur, AL; one daughter, Margaret Warren (Harry) of Decatur, AL; two sons, Michael Lipscomb of Pelham, AL, and Donnie Lipscomb, Jr., (Pauline) of Harrogate, TN; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and four sisters, Nettie Farrow of Gurley, AL, Jane Rice of Newell, AL, Connie Moore of Heflin, AL, and Peggy Harvell of Ohatchee, AL.

Pallbearers will be John Warren, Martin Warren, Jake Elliott, Stewart Moore, Ken Minter, and Bill Williamson.

A Gadsden, Alabama native, Mr. Lipscomb was born on March 31, 1939, the son of Gurland and Birtie Cloninger Lipscomb.  He was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church and was a retired forklift driver from Southwire.  Mr. Lipscomb was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Monroe Lipscomb.
