Obituary of Marceil Bass Hammons

Visitation for Marceil Bass Hammons, age 92, of Woodland will be held on Saturday, December 17, 2022, from 2:00 – 3:30 PM at Benefield Funeral Home. Mrs. Hammons will be buried at Forest Hill Cemetery in Weirsdale, FL.

Mrs. Hammons passed away on December 16, 2022 at her residence.

Survivors include her daughters, Marcia Novinger (James), Debbie Goebel, Mary Webber (David), and step-daughter Zelma Abshier; step-son, Lawrence Hammons (Kelly); 12 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and 40 great-great-grandchildren; and brother, Pat Bass (Ernell).

Mrs. Hammons was born in Bell, FL. on September 15, 1930. She is the daughter of James Morgan and Mae Bell Brock Bass.  She was a member of Rocky Branch Baptist Church and worked in the food service for Lake County School Systems. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Earl Charles Hammons.

Funeral services will be held with Page Theus Funeral Home in Leesburg, FL. at a later date.
