Obituary of Wanda Edwards

Funeral services for Wanda Edwards, age 76, of Newell will be held on Thursday, December 29, 2022, at 1:00 PM at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church of Heflin with Bro. Randy Morris officiating. Burial will follow at the adjoining cemetery with Benefield Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-8:00 PM on Wednesday, December 28, 2022.

Mrs. Edwards passed away on Monday, December 26, 2022, in Columbus, Ga.

Survivors include her husband, Lawrence Edwards; sons, Clifton Edwards (April) and Randal McLeod (Veronica) both of Newell, Ala.; grandchildren, Seth Edwards (Brittany) of Birmingham, Ala., Essie Gober of Riverside, Ala., Nikki McLeod of Newell, Ala., and Jacob McLeod (Morgan Frank) of Newell, Ala.; sisters, Edna Israel (John) of Birmingham, Ala., and Lura Hyatt (Bruce) of Ranburne, Ala.

Pallbearers will be Wendell Shelton, Dustin Shelton, Phillip Roberts, Travis Loftin, Phillip Edwards, and Greg Edwards.

Mrs. Edwards was born in Cleburne County on September 27, 1946. She is the daughter of Fred and Mildred Morrison Riddle.  She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Stan Edwards; and baby brother.
