Obituary of Dwight Conger

Funeral services for Dwight Conger, age 74, of Woodland will be held on Thursday, January 5, 2023, at 11:00 AM at Benefield Funeral Chapel with Bro. Ryan Conger and Bro. Larry Conger officiating.  Burial will follow at Rocky Branch Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-8:00 PM on Wednesday, January 4, 2023.

Mr. Conger passed away Monday, January 2, 2023, at his residence.

Survivors include his wife, Reba Conger of Woodland; one daughter, Staci Foster (Tripp) of LaGrange, GA; one son, Ryan Conger (Christine) of Woodland; four grandchildren, Ali Foster Stuman (Micah), John Conger, Cal Foster, and Jake Conger; two sisters, Brenda Holmes (Bill) of Opelika and Era Bowden (Cleve) of Phenix City; and two brothers, Glenn Conger of Carrollton, GA, and Larry Conger (Kim) of Wedowee.

Pallbearers will be Pierce Meadows, Tracy Cantrell, Jamie Melton, Thomas Rollins, Allen McDaniel, and Larry Clark.

A Woodland native, Mr. Conger was born on June 8, 1948, the son of Andrew Zeak and Clara Mae White Conger.  He was a member of Highway Congregational Methodist Church where he served as a Deacon for over 30 years and taught Sunday School for over 20 years and was retired from Candlewick Yarns in Roanoke.  Mr. Conger was preceded in death by his parents; four siblings, Glenda Reaves, Kenneth Conger, Bill Conger, and Garry Conger; and a nephew, Brandon Partridge.
