Funeral services for Waymon Smith, age 80, of Woodland, will be held on Sunday, January 15, 2023, at 2:00 PM at Benefield Funeral Chapel with Rev. David Taft and Rev. David Daniel officiating.  Burial will follow at Liberty East Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 – 8:00 PM on Saturday, January 14, 2023.

Mr. Smith passed away on Friday, January 13, 2023 at his home.

Survivors include his sons, Tim Smith (Sonya) of Wedowee, AL. and Kevin Smith (Susan) of Roanoke, AL.; grandchildren, Brittany, Emily, Connor, Joie, Logan, and Jake; sisters, Betty Baker of Wedowee, AL. and Kathy Freeman of Ranburne, AL.; brother, Larry Smith of Roanoke, AL.; and 5 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Jake Smith, Logan Smith, Connor Smith, Randall Smith, Tony Smith, and Eugene Denney.

Mr. Smith was born in Troup County, Georgia on November 26, 1942. He was the son of James Oscar and Leona Baldwin Smith. Mr. Smith was a member of Liberty East Baptist Church and worked as road grader for Randolph County for 23 ½ years, as well as Pulpwood & Edward’s Bros Farm Supply.  He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Jane Smith; siblings, Calvin Smith, James Ray Smith, Clyde Smith, Edith Steely, Alvin Smith, and Emmett Smith.
