Funeral services for Frances Vowell Turner, age 62, of Newell will be held on Monday, February 20, 2023, at 2:00 PM at Mt. Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Kevin Acre and Rev. Josh Kennedy officiating.  Burial will follow in the adjacent cemetery with Benefield Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-8:00 PM on Sunday, February 19, 2023.  Mrs. Turner will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to services beginning on Monday.

Mrs. Turner passed away Friday, February 17, 2023, at Regional Medical Center in Anniston.

Survivors include her husband, Ronald Turner of Newell; one daughter, Angie Crenshaw of Woodland; one son, Brad Smith (wife, Wanda) of Newell; seven grandchildren, Kathryn Puckett, Kim Harmon, Brooklyn McCain, Alana Bain, Colten Crenshaw, and Allen Puckett; eight great-grandchildren; three sisters, Ann Bolt of Talladega, Linda Smith of Woodland, and Katherine Little of Roanoke; and two brothers, Randy Cummings of Millerville and Ben Cummings of Newell.

Pallbearers will be Jason Smith, Justin Smith, Bubba Cummings, Michael Whitley, Jimmy Harmon, Jarrod Turner, and Kevin Puckett.

A Randolph County native, Mrs. Turner was born on April 17, 1960, the daughter of Arthur and Myrtle Nolen Cummings.  She was a member of Mt. Grove Baptist Church and worked as a CNA at Lineville Health and Rehabilitation, where she loved the residents and really enjoyed her job.  Mrs. Turner was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, John Melton, Jr.; and a sister, Roxie Whitley Owens.
