Funeral services for Jo Ann Bishop, age 77, of Wedowee will be held on Friday, February 24, 2023, at 11:30 AM at Benefield Funeral Chapel with Bro. Chance Meinzer officiating.  Burial will follow at a private family cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10:00-11:30 AM on Friday before services begin.

Mrs. Bishop passed away Tuesday, February 21, 2023, at Tanner-East Alabama Medical Center.

Survivors include her husband, Hewell Bishop of Wedowee; two daughters, Bronwyn Bishop of the Rocky Branch Community and Brandee Godwin (Todd) of Roanoke; two grandchildren, Garison Abbott and Rylen Jo Rampy; cousins, Jimmy Nix and Marc Nix, both of Lake Martin, AL; nephew, Larry Easterwood, Jr. (Lynn), Jerry Scott Easterwood; niece, Rachel Easterwood; and great-nieces and nephews, Brad Easterwood (Katherine), Eric Easterwood (Ashton), and Adam Easterwood (Paige).

Pallbearers will be Brad Easterwood, Larry Junior, Lance Nagel, Todd Godwin, Garison Abbott, and Mark Duffie.  Honorary pallbearers will be Wayne Wortham, James Kendrick, and Ted Strain.

A Randolph County native, Mrs. Bishop was born on January 4, 1946, the daughter of Joseph Bartholomew and Delmas Owens Easterwood.  She was a member of Noon Day Congregational Christian Church, was a homemaker, and volunteered at the Randolph County Baptist Association Christian Service Center.  Mrs. Bishop was preceded in death by her parents.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that any memorials in her memory be made to the Randolph County Animal Shelter at 104 Animal Shelter Road, Wedowee, AL 36278.
