Funeral services for Doris Clark Wood, age 89, of Roanoke will be held on Tuesday, February 28, 2023, at 3:00 PM at Benefield Funeral Chapel with Bro. Kenneth Johnson and Bro. Ryan Conger officiating.  Burial will follow at Randolph Memory Gardens with Benefield Funeral Home in charge of arrangements

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00-3:00 PM on Tuesday before the service begins.

Mrs. Wood passed away on Saturday, February 25, 2023.

Survivors include her daughter, Tammy Bowen of Fort Payne; two sons, Danny Wood (Lisa) of Roanoke and David Wood (Denese) of Gulf Shores; six grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; a sister, Betty Toole of Macon, GA; and two brothers, Larry Clark and Joe Clark, both of Roanoke.

Pallbearers will be Jake Sanders, Dillon Brown, Zach Graben, John Abernathy, AJ Johnson, Mack Breazeale, and Danny Wood.

A Randolph County native, Mrs. Wood was born on May 13, 1933, the daughter of Charlie and Eula Belle Whitlock Clark. She was a member of Rock Stand Congregational Christian Church. She had worked as an inspector at Merico in Forest Park, GA.  Mrs. Wood was an avid Alabama Football fan and a lover of country music, especially George  Jones, Conway Twitty, and Alan Jackson.She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband James L. Wood; a son, Ricky Wood; and four brothers, Tony, June, Felton, and Bill.
