Funeral services for Jackson “Monroe” Whaley, age 65, of Roanoke, will be held on Thursday, April 13, 2023, at 1:00 PM at Benefield Funeral Chapel with Bro. Scotty Whaley and Bro. Chad Whaley officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m.

Mr. Whaley passed away Friday, April 7, 2023, at Wellstar Kennestone Hospital in Marietta, Georgia.

Survivors include his sons, Cory Whaley (Lyndsey) of Auburn, AL. and Chad Whaley (Alex) of Weaver, AL.; grandchildren, Jackson Coty Whaley and Adalyn Elizabeth Whaley; sisters, Linda Talley (Johnny) of LaGrange, GA. and Carolyn Price of Wedowee, AL.; and brother, James Larry Whaley (Pat) of LaGrange, GA.

Pallbearers will be Madison Sparks, C.J. Price, Justin Talley, Andrew Heard, Kyle Taft, and Johnny Talley.

A Randolph County native, Mr. Whaley was born on April 15, 1957, the son of Lum Pierce Whaley and Loneta Boggs Whaley.  He was Christian by faith and was a self-employed carpenter.  Mr. Whaley was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Lum Junior Whaley and Steve Whaley.
