Obituary of Bonnie Whitten Hanson

Bonnie Whitten Hanson, age 95, passed away April 19, 2023, at Traylor Nursing Home in Roanoke, Alabama.  She was born November 25, 1927, in Woodland, Alabama, to Hershel David Whitten and Lizzie Brown Whitten.  Bonnie has lived in Woodland all her life until declining health required she be in nursing home care some six years ago.  She had worked in the textile industry her entire adult life until retirement and was widely known for all the delicious cakes and pies she baked and shared with others. At the time of her death, she was the oldest member of Providence Baptist Church.

Bonnie is survived by one son, Ronald Hanson, and his wife Delaine, of Dadeville, Alabama, who were long time residents of Carrollton, Georgia, and two granddaughters, Leslie Hanson of Atlanta, Georgia, and Julie Hanson of Newnan, Georgia.  One sister Betty Whitten Nichols of Anniston, Alabama.

Bonnie was predeceased by her husband of 57 years, Jepp Hanson who died in 2004, her parents, and siblings Stella Whitten(infant), Brooksie Whitten, Fount Lee Whitten, Jackson Whitten, Oneta Whitten Sheffield, and Joel Whitten.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, April 22, 2023, at Providence Baptist Church, Woodland, Alabama, with Rev. Terry Eason and Rev. David Daniel officiating.  

The family wishes to thank everyone at Traylor’s for their care and professionalism, and a special thanks to Unit 3 for the loving care they provided Mrs. Hanson on a daily basis.
