Obituary of Jean B. Turner

Funeral services for Jean B. Turner, age 68, of Wedowee will be held on Saturday, May 27, 2023, at 11:00 AM at Benefield Funeral Chapel with Rev. William Phillips officiating.  Burial will follow at Burks Chapel Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10:00-11:00 AM on Saturday before services begin.

Mrs. Turner passed away Friday, May 19, 2023, at Tanner Medical Center in Carrollton, Georgia.

Survivors include: one daughter, Weltha Elaine Smith of Helena, AL; four sons, Roger Spratlin of Wadley, Chris Turner of Oceanside, CA, Shawn Turner of Columbus, OH, and Rodney Turner of Glen Burnie, MD; 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Janet Hill King of New Mexico; and eight brothers, Sammy Hill of Wadley, AL, Jerry Birdsong of Michigan, Raymond Birdsong of Ohio, Jimmy Birdsong of Roanoke, Charles Birdsong of Ohio, Eddie Hill of Montana, Tommy Birdsong of Ohio; and Charlie Hill of Cuba.

Pallbearers will be Shawn Turner, Rodney Turner, Chris Turner, Jerome Spratlin, Corinthian Turner, and Gavin Turner.  Lynard Lee will serve as an honorary pallbearer.

A Wadley native, Mrs. Turner was born on May 21, 1954, the daughter of James Hill and Arlina Birdsong.  She was a member of Zions Rest Baptist Church and worked as a CNA at NHC and in the food industry at Boondocks throughout her lifetime.
