Graveside services for David Tench, age 75, of Heflin will be held on Saturday, June 10, 2023, at 11:00 AM at Wedowee City Cemetery with Kevin Whaley officiating and Benefield Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home beginning at 10:00 AM on Saturday morning.

Mr. Tench passed away Wednesday, June 7, 2023, at his home.

Survivors include: two daughters, Crystal Baker (Shannon) of Heflin and Tonia Whaley (Rex) of Wedowee; one son, Brian Tench (Candida Burrell) of Heflin; a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; four sisters, Nancy Tullis of Snellville, GA, Kathy Mulkey of Statham, GA, Joan Simmons of Gainesville, GA, and Olivia Hudson of Chatsworth, GA; and one brother, Mickey Tench of Buford, GA.

Pallbearers will be Shannon Baker, Rickey Baker, Dustin Taylor, Kevin Whaley, Steve Whaley, and Christopher Kimbrell.

A Georgia native, Mr. Tench was born on April 10, 1948, the son of Erford Clay and Callie Grafton Tench.  He was Christian by faith and worked as a mechanic for WT Dodd.  Mr. Tench enjoyed fishing, gaming, and adding to his rock collection.  He was preceded in death by his parents; son, David Ray Maddox; sisters, Wanda Gabbard, Molly Floyd and Sue Malone; and brothers, Marvin Tench, Monroe Tench, and Henry Tench.
