Graveside services for Diann Falks Blackburn, age 76, of Wedowee will be held on Friday, July 21, 2023, at 1:00 PM at Valley Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with Bro. Keith Benefield officiating and Benefield Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11:45 AM – 12:30 PM on Friday before services begin.

Ms. Blackburn passed away Tuesday, July 18, 2023, at Traylor’s Nursing Center.

Survivors include: one daughter, Shelia Johnson of Meridian, MS; two sons, Russell J. Kangas, Jr. (Selena) and Bradley D. Kangas (Johannah) both of Meridian, MS; eight grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and nephew Michael Falks to whom she was very close.

A Mississippi native, Ms. Blackburn was born on November 3, 1946, the daughter of Wiley L. and Carrie Lindsey Falks.  She was Pentecostal by faith and worked as a medical unit secretary and later retired as a Lauderdale County Corrections Officer, in Meridian MS.  Ms. Blackburn had a special relationship with God and loved the Lord.  She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Larry Falks, and a sister Charlotte Falks Greene.

She will be dearly missed by many other family members and friends.
