Funeral services for Elaine Evans Nelson, age 77, of Wedowee will be held on Tuesday, January 23, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Caver’s Grove Congregational Christian Church with Rev. Mike Nobbley and Rev. Jimmy Brand officiating.  Burial will follow at Levens Baptist Church Cemetery with Benefield Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4:30-7:00 PM on Monday, January 22, 2024.  Mrs. Nelson will lie in state at Cavers Grove for one hour prior to services beginning on Tuesday.

Mrs. Nelson passed away Sunday, January 21, 2024, at Tanner Medical Center in Carrollton, Georgia.

Survivors include her husband, Billy Nelson of Wedowee; one daughter, Amanda Crenshaw (Shain) of Woodland; one son, Andy Nelson (Lindsay) of Lineville; two stepdaughters, Wilma McClain (Mike) of Clermont, GA, and Tonya Parrish (Lee) of Woodland; two stepsons, Danny Nelson of Ashland and Jody Nelson (Lisa) of Lawrence, GA; 13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Derrick Evans of Piedmont.

A Piedmont, Alabama native, Mrs. Nelson was born on October 17, 1946, the daughter of John D and Evelyn Lusk Evans.  She was a member of Cavers Grove Congregational Christian Church and was retired from the Extension Agency at Auburn University.  Mrs. Nelson was preceded in death by her parents.
