Funeral services for Donnie Clyde Laney, age 73, of Wedowee will be held on Sunday, March 17, 2024, at 2 PM at Benefield Funeral Chapel with Bro. Corky Addison and Bro. Donald Spradlin officiating.  Burial will follow at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:00-2:00 PM on Sunday before services begin.

Mr. Laney passed away on Friday, March 15, 2024, at his residence.

Survivors include his wife, Glenda Holloway Laney of Wedowee; one daughter, Delana Gilliland of Wedowee; one son, Shane Laney (Jada) of Wedowee; six grandchildren, Cody Laney (Kayla), Cory Laney (Gabby), Tyler Laney (Theressa), Cailin Laney, Payton Hefner, and Ashton Jenkins; four great-grandchildren, Zelda, Maleah, Jasper, and Mayleigh; and two sisters, Sherry Shadix (David) and Susan Hull (Chuck), both of Bowdon, GA.

Pallbearers will be Ken Spradlin, Al Salas, Jamey Gray, Chuck Hull, Chuck Rice, and Andrew Hall.

A Carroll County native, Mr. Laney was born on April 5, 1950, the son of Vernon Clyde and Vera Medlock Laney.  He was Baptist by faith and worked in shipping for Douglas and Lomason before retiring.  Mr. Laney was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorials may be floral or donations may be made to Benefield Funeral Home to go toward final expenses.
