Funeral services for Jane Burns Johnson, age 69, of Wedowee will be held on Monday, March 25, 2024, at 3:00 PM at the First United Methodist Church in Wedowee with Rev. Todd Noren-Hentz, Rev. Josh Hickman, and Bro. Ricky Daniel officiating.  Burial will follow at Wedowee City Cemetery with Benefield Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2:00-5:00 PM on Sunday, March 24, 2024.  Mrs. Johnson will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to services beginning on Monday.

Mrs. Johnson passed away Friday, March 22, 2024, at Tanner Medical Center-East Alabama in Wedowee.

Survivors include her husband, David Johnson of Wedowee; two sons, Ben Johnson (Bethany) and John Johnson (Kendra), both of Woodland; seven grandchildren, Ayden, Carter, Charlie, Blakely, Brooks, Bridge, and Baylor; two brothers, Joey Burns (Curtis Jane) of Wedowee and Steve Burns (Sabra) of Roanoke; and one sister-in-law, Dianne Burns of Virginia.

Pallbearers will be Josh Burns, Joby Burns, Luke Burns, Adam Burns, Bill Williamson, and Darrin Alcorn.

A Wedowee native, Mrs. Johnson was born on March 10, 1955, the daughter of Joe Tom and Mollie John Gross Burns.  She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Wedowee.  Jane served her hometown as a first grade teacher for 25 years.  She was a loving wife, mother, mawmaw and the best tea cake maker in town.  She will be greatly missed.  Jane was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Eddie Burns.
