Funeral services for Louise Hall Smith, age 94, of Newell will be held on Saturday, April 13, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Smyrna Baptist Church with Bro. Brian Smith and Bro. Steven Beam officiating.  Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery with Benefield Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-8:00 PM on Friday, April 12, 2024.  Mrs. Smith will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to services beginning on Saturday.

Mrs. Smith passed away Wednesday, April 10, 2024, at Lineville Health and Rehabilitation.

Survivors include: three daughters, Sue Herren (Tommy), Wanda Smith, and Cynthia Hill (Larry), all of Woodland; two sons, Hollis Hall (Paula) of Bowdon, GA, and Tim Hall (Brenda) of Ranburne, AL; special niece, Arlene Pace (Charlie) of Bremen, GA; 12 grandchildren, Heather Edwards (Scott), Heath Mitchell (April), Jason Hall (Julie), Matt Smith (Gail), Marc Smith, Chris Rampy, Wes Rampy (Jennifer), Randy Hill (Angel), Daniel Hall, Alexa Barfield, Randa Hall, and Emily Hall; 30 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Jane Yates of Wedowee; and one brother, W. F. Stillwell (Catherine) of Graham, AL.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Matt Smith, Marc Smith, Heath Mitchell, Jason Hall, Chris Rampy, Wes Rampy, Randy Hill, and Daniel Hall.

A Newell native, Mrs. Smith was born on July 18, 1929, the daughter of Robert Wesley and Edna Landers Stillwell.  She was a member of Smyrna Baptist Church and worked as a seamstress for Lamar Manufacturing Co.  Mrs. Smith also enjoyed going to the Woodland Senior Center where she would fellowship with friends and exercise.  She loved singing and traveling. She stayed active until she was 90 years old.  Mrs. Smith was a loving mother and grandmother to everyone who knew her.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Thurman Hall; her second husband, Jack Smith; her son, Stanley Hall; and son-in-law, Wayne Smith.
