Funeral services for Martha Lois Hollaway, age 91, of Wedowee will be held on Tuesday, April 23, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Mt. Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Corky Addison officiating.  Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery with Benefield Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

The family will receive friends at the church from 1:00 - 2:00 PM on Tuesday, April 23.

Mrs. Hollaway passed away on Friday, April 19, 2024, at Plantation Manor Nursing Home in McCalla, Alabama.

Survivors include: her daughter, Sandra Hollaway, who currently resides in a nursing home in Columbiana, Alabama; daughter-in-law, Melissa Shelley Holloway of Pelham; two grandchildren, David Holloway (Emily) and Amanda Holloway Carlisle (John); and two great-grandchildren, William Russell Holloway and Wyatt Oneal Holloway. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. She was particularly close to her nieces: Linda Warnock, Diane Rice and Glenda Laney.

Pallbearers will be David Holloway, John Carlisle, Chuck Rice, and Andrew Hall.

A Randolph County native, Mrs. Hollaway was born on October 18, 1932 the youngest daughter of Warner and Eura Wright Hurley. She was a member of Mt. Grove Baptist Church in Wedowee and had retired from Shawmutt Mills in Lanett after 25 years of service. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joe Hollaway; her son, Russell Holloway; three sisters, Lillian Hurley Hallmark, Dorothy Hurley Alewine and Lila Hurley Holloway; and one infant brother.

The family would like to offer special thanks to Mrs. Hollaway’s caregivers at Maplewood Assisted Living in Helena, AL; Plantation Manor Nursing Home in McCalla, AL and Southeast Hospice Network in Hoover, AL. All who cared for Mrs. Hollaway loved her godly, sweet, and humble nature.

Memorials may be floral or donations may be made to the Mt. Grove Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.
