Obituary of JB Stanley

Funeral services for JB Stanley, age 85, of Wedowee will be held on Thursday, April 25, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Benefield Funeral Chapel with Bro. Corky Addison and Bro. Mike Nobbley officiating.  Burial will follow at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM on Thursday before services begin.

Mr. Stanley passed away Friday, April 19, 2024, at Tanner Medical Center in Carrollton, GA.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Sarah Helen Rice Stanley of Wedowee; one daughter, Cindy Jenkins (Robert) of Huntsville; three sons, Keith Stanley (Babs) of Madison, Tim Stanley (Christina) of Acworth, GA, and Todd Stanley (Kerri) of Huntsville; ten grandchildren, Michael Speigle (Tara), Mindy Casey (Steven), Daniel Stanley, Madison Ann Stanley, Dillon Gilbert, Bailey Karamuca (Ronald), Sarah Stanley, Gavin Stanley, Griffin Gilbert, and Ty Stanley; five great-grandchildren, Hudson Speigle, Owen Speigle, Austin Speigle, Savannah Casey, and Madilyn Casey; one sister, Ganelle Stanley Roberts (Fred) of Mt. Pleasant, NC; one sister-in-law, Jill Stanley of Alabaster, AL; and one brother-in-law, Jack Riner of Bluffton, SC.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Michael Speigle, Steven Casey, Daniel Stanley, Dillon Gilbert, Ronald Karamuca, Gavin Stanley, Griffin Gilbert, and Ty Stanley.

A Jefferson County, Alabama native, Mr. Stanley was born on May 6, 1938, the son of Tom Bolden and Cecil Marie Sellers Stanley.  Mr. Stanley was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church and a graduate of Berry College.  For 35 years, he worked as a physicist for NASA at Marshall Space Flight Center, where he was a charter member. Mr. Stanley was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Mary Beth Riner; and one brother, Tommy Dale Stanley.
