Obituary of Raymond Tommy Richardson

Funeral services for Raymond Tommy Richardson, age 87, of Woodland will be held on Thursday, May 30 2024, at 2:00 PM at Highway Congregational Methodist Church with Bro. Jason Owens, Bro. Tracy Cantrell, and Bro. Lane Elliott officiating.  Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery with Benefield Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-8:00 PM on Wednesday, May 29, 2024.  Mr. Richardson will lie in state at the church from 12:00-2:00 PM on Thursday before services begin.

Mr. Richardson passed away Monday, May 27, 2024, at Tanner Medical Center in Carrollton.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Louree Cantrell Richardson; two daughters, Lori Hester (Mike) and Shelia Rollins (Randall), both of Woodland; two sons, Tony Richardson (Dale) of Woodland and Mark Richardson (Kristina) of Cedartown, GA; seven grandchildren, Katie Dye (Eric), Meghan Meadows (Heath), Brooke Hester, Paige Huey (Heath), Haley Hill (Clint), Emily Richardson, and Gracie Richardson; nine great-grandchildren; three sisters, Wilma Bowen of Rock Mills, and Jessie Kennedy (Jack) and Pat Boykin, both of Woodland; and three brothers, Belmon Richardson (Jean) of Merritt Island, FL, Roman Richardson of Woodland, and Billy Richardson of Roanoke.

Pallbearers will be Heath Meadows, Heath Huey, Eric Dye, Viron Cantrell, Jeff Richardson, and Jeff Cantrell.

A Randolph County native, Mr. Richardson was born on March 6, 1937, the son of Jones Henry and Cermilla Crenshaw Richardson.  He was a member of Highway Congregational Methodist Church. Mr. Richardson served in the Alabama National Guard in the 167th Infantry before enlisting in the United States Air Force where he served another four years.  He worked for Douglas & Lomason and after retirement went to work at Edwards Brothers Farm Supply.  He was also a certified firefighter II and served for many years for the Tin Shop Volunteer Fire Department.  Mr. Richardson was preceded in death by his parents.
