Obituary of Viree Morris Turner

Funeral services for Viree Morris Turner, age 95, of Wedowee will be held on Thursday, June 13, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Benefield Funeral Chapel with Bro. Henry Nelson officiating.  Burial will follow at Union Chapel Methodist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4:00-8:00 PM on Wednesday, June 12, 2024.

Mrs. Turner passed away on Friday, June 7, 2024, at Tanner Medical Center in Carrollton, GA.

Survivors include: three daughters, Lola Mae Wright of Wedowee, Belinda Colquitt of Carrollton, and Jacqueline Marable of Roanoke; one son, David Wayne Turner of Wedowee; six special grandchildren, Jasmine Melinda Colquitt, Nicole Houston, David Wayne Turner, Jr., Datril Jermaine Turner, Corey Marco Turner, and Earnest Houston; 12 total grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and special friends, Elaine Blake, Don McCain, Shantell Terrell, Sarah Moore, and Charlie Henderson.

Pallbearers will be Mrs. Turner’s grandchildren.

A Wadley native, Mrs. Turner was born on September 11, 1928, the daughter of Roosevelt and Alline Ray Morris.  She was a member of Union Chapel Methodist Church and owned her own cleaning business.  Mrs. Turner was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, King David Turner; one daughter, Alma Jean Houston; three sons, Steve Allen Turner, Demitrius David Turner, and King Edward Knight; two sisters, Jeraldine Daughtery and Carla Mae Wells; and one brother, Roosevelt “Junebug” Morris.

The family would like to send a special thanks to Traylor’s Nursing Home and Tanner Medical Center for their care of our loved one.
