Obituary of Dennis Floyd Deason
Funeral services for Dennis Floyd Deason, age 78, of Wedowee will be held on Monday, September 16, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Benefield Funeral Chapel with Bro. Logan Sibley officiating. Burial will follow at Zion Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00-2:00 PM on Monday, September 16 before services begin.
Mr. Deason passed away Saturday, September 14, 2024, at his home.
Survivors include his wife, Debra Bailey Deason of Wedowee; two daughters, Valerie Sibley (Tommy) of Heflin and Toni Deason (Marco) of Ellenton, FL; five grandchildren, Logan Sibley (Madison), Landon Sibley, Audrey Lane Sibley, Isaiah Sosa, and Joey Sosa; one sister, Nina Smith; two sisters-in-law, Lorene Deason and Sandra Deason; and two brothers, Marvin Deason (Leslie) and Johnny Deason (Gaylene).
Pallbearers will be Tommy Sibley, Marco Sosa, Logan Sibley, Landon Sibley, and Isaiah Sosa. Joey Sosa will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
A lifelong Randolph County resident, Mr. Deason was born in Dekalb County, AL, on October 9, 1945, the son of John Calvin and Mary Etta Reaves Deason. He was a member of Zion Baptist Church and retired from the United States Air Force as an aviation electrician. Mr. Deason also retired from Plantation Patterns. He was preceded in death by his parents; six brothers, Neal Deason, Ellis Deason, Ralph Deason, Jimmy Deason, Wayne Deason, and Chester Paul Deason (infant); two sisters, Vera Baker and Melba Earnest; and brothers and sisters-in-law, Dwight Baker, Sara Deason, Jo Deason, Mary Deason, Sam Smith.
Memorials may be floral or donations may be made to the Zion Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.
