Obituary of Dot Wilkinson

Services for Dorothy S.  Wilkinson, age 82, of Wadley will be held on Sunday, September 29, 2024, at 2:00 PM at First Baptist Church in Wadley, Alabama with Rev. Paul Wilson officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery in Malone with Benefield Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Visitation will be held at the church from 12:30 until services begin at 2:00 on Sunday.

Mrs. Wilkinson passed away Thursday, September 26, 2024, at Compassus Bethany House in Auburn.

Survivors include her son, Chad Wilkinson of Wadley; daughter, Cissy Pybus (Andy) of Newnan, GA; grandchildren, Harley Eftink (Aaron) of Fernandino Beach, FL, Gus Wilkinson of Birmingham, and Micah Pybus of Fountain Inn, SC; great grandson, Ander Eftink; brothers, James Southern (Wanda), Dan Southern (Tamer), of Ellijay, GA; sisters, Sheila (Richard)Croy of Ellijay, GA, and Machelle Hall (Thomas) of Dalton GA; and several beloved nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Scott Stewart, Jim Hall, John Harmon, David Camp, Andrew Wilkinson, Aaron Eftink.

Dot Wilkinson was born on July, 13, 1942 the daughter of Elmer and Venice Southern. She attended Ebenezer Baptist Church in Ellijay as a young girl and later became a member of the Wadley First Baptist Church. She was the Financial Aid Director at Southern Union State Community College for over 25 years. She was involved in many clubs including Women's Quest Club, Wadley Kiwanis Club, AASFAA and GFWC. She was a friend to many, a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Known to many as Dot Dot. She was an avid gardener and excellent cook. She was famous for her pickles, jellies and jams. She was great at remembering everybody's birthdays with a card and making the best birthday cakes.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Terry Wilkinson, her parents and a daughter, Crystal Wilkinson, sister Radell Horton, brothers, Jackie Southern, Gerald Southern and Hilton Southern.

Memorial may be floral or donations may be made to the Wadley First Baptist Church or to one’s favorite charity.
