Funeral services for Imogene Thompson Haynes, age 89, of Wedowee will be held on Thursday, November 7, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Midway Community Church with Rev. John Tal Murphy officiating.  Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery with Benefield Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-7:00 PM on Wednesday, November 6, 2024.  Mrs. Haynes will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to services beginning on Thursday.

Mrs. Haynes passed away on Monday, November 4, 2024, at her home.

Survivors include her husband, Ralph C. Haynes; sons, Randy Greene (Leanne), Mike Greene, and Barry Greene; granddaughters, Tonya Greene and Abbey Greene; stepsons, Jordy Haynes (Judy) and Brad Haynes; stepdaughters, Kathy Henderson and Deborah Lee (Kenny); brother, Maxie Thompson and Sammy Thompson; sisters, Shirley McManus and Carol Gilreath; many nieces and nephews; special cousin, Cynthia Hurley; and lifelong friend, Sue Benefield.

Pallbearers will be Darryl Thompson, Scott Thompson, Harley Johnson, Jordy Haynes and Chip May.

A Wedowee native, Mrs. Haynes was born in Woodland, Alabama, on January 29, 1935, the daughter of Shellie and Verna Thompson.  She was a longtime member of Midway Community Church and was a housewife.  Mrs. Haynes enjoyed attending car shows with her husband Ralph.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 58 years, James Alva Greene; daughter, Susan Renee Greene; sisters, Betty Jameson and Grace Stone; and brothers, Loyce Thompson and Joe Thompson.
